Kili with Dr. Kelly: A Climb with Purpose

Women Moving Mountains
For Ourselves, For the Next Generation

What If Your Next Mountain Could Change Lives?

This is more than just a climb. It’s a movement.

In 2025, a powerful group of women thought leaders, visionaries, and entrepreneurs will come together to summit Africa’s highest peak—Mount Kilimanjaro—while raising funds to build a school for children in Ifakara, Tanzania.

This journey is about more than personal achievement—it’s about legacy, impact, and lifting others as we rise.

The Origin of a Miracle

One quiet Saturday night, I stood before a whiteboard, preparing for a goal-setting ritual. Suddenly, a message came through:
Climb a mountain. Create a cause.
I had no idea how—or who—it would involve.

The very next morning, I went hiking with my dear friend Annie. As we climbed, she shared her father’s dying wish: to build a school for Tanzanian children. Her parents had already built the Ifakara Bakery, which feeds over 1,000 children daily. But her father’s dream wasn’t complete. He wanted to build a school.

In that moment, I knew: this was the mountain I was meant to climb—both literally and spiritually.

Why We Climb

The Eugene English Medium School in Ifakara, Tanzania

Education is a powerful force for change, but for many children in Tanzania, learning English—a gateway to opportunity—is out of reach.

More than two decades ago, Annie’s parents, Eugene and Margaret Schellenberg, visited their son—a malaria researcher in Ifakara, Tanzania. A chance encounter with a nun led them to found the Ifakara Bakery Project, which today nourishes more than 1,000 children and supports kindergartens, orphanages, and medical centers.

Before Eugene passed, his final dream was to build an English-medium school—giving children early access to language skills vital for advancing to secondary school and beyond.

“This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a continuation of my father’s dream,” says Annie. “We’re honoring his life by planting seeds of hope and education where they’re needed most.”

Now, we’ve joined forces with The Ifakara Bakery Project to raise $111,000 to build the Eugene English Medium School—a place of opportunity and liberation, especially for girls.

And we’re doing it the way we know best: through sisterhood, service, and soul.
